Hatch update…

February 28th, 2008

Well, my new hatch project is moving along pretty quickly. I have received a d16 “Super Kit” from fjt over at www.turbod16.com which includes every d16 gasket you can think of, along with some new 75.5mm Vitara/YCP pistons. I also picked up a d16y8 block and z6 crank a week or so ago, as well as a y8 transmission. The block and head are at the machine shop getting a bore/hone and valve job/rebuild as I type. In addition to that stuff, I received some random parts I ordered such as ARP head studs, y8 cam gear, ecu conversion harness…So, we can deduce from this information that my latest project appears to be a built D series motor :) More stuff in the mail as well, and although I am trying to keep things in the budget realm, I am making sure not to skimp in the most important areas.

New project for the hatch.

February 8th, 2008

Alright, so I said I would take another stab at the motor swap sometime in the future in my last post…Well, that time is now, kind of :) Except this go around I am keeping budget in mind since I want to keep the expenses down. SO, I picked up a y8 vtec head this evening to begin the new project. I’m planning on converting my d16y7 that is currently in the car to a vtec motor, then adding some boost. This way, I can use a lot of the existing parts I already have without fully swapping to another series motor/trans. Keep an eye out here for updates on the project…and pics because it did happen…

Out with the old…

January 28th, 2008

Well, as you could see from my parting out of the old Civic coupe with a B series in it, I was starting to work on a b18c swap for the hatch. But, I ended it prematurely because of the cost involved. I had to get a new tranny, and replace/repair quite a bit and it was just not worth it to me to do that and run a naturally aspirated GSR motor. So, I sold my b18c and all the parts I had with it…I’ll see about starting up a new project on the cheap in the future…

And so begins the hatch log…

August 4th, 2007

So, I have had this 1996 red hatchback that I bought from Erik over a year now. And because of travelling and working from home this past year, I have hardly driven it. Well, I am now driving it daily and figured it’s time to start up a new car log. This will be similar to my old Evolution 8 log and Turbo Integra log. On to the news…I picked up a used set of Integra seats to start the car off. Took some steam cleaning and some scrubbing to get them clean but they are as good as new now. Click the pics below to see the pics of the car and the first project!

Integra rear discs

August 4th, 2007

Today Erik and I swapped out my rear drum brakes for some used Integra rear discs. I picked these up from the same guy I bought the seats from for $160, trailing arms and camber kit included, nice. I also had a Civic SI arm rest center console I put in at the same time. Click the pictures below to see the install gallery, we also have a tech article that covers this modification as well.
